Gina Bass
Biography
Born on 5 May 1995 in Toubacouta, Senegal, then moving to Gamiba. Bass grew up with a sister and two brothers and from a very early age she has shown that she was destined for athletics; her talent has always been there.
Bass, who trains in the CAA High Performance Center in Dakar, finished sixth in the 200m at the World Championships in Doha 2019; and although she was not on the medal podium; she did put the world of athletics and the continent of Africa on notice that she was ready for the global stage.
Bass is also the first athlete ever from Gambia to have reached the final at a World Championships; an achievement that gave her the confidence to then go on and cap her terrific 2019 campaign by collecting victory at the African Games in Rabat, Morocco; as well as setting three national records.
Gina returned to action in the 2020 indoor season; winning 6 out of 6 events; and being crowned the 2020 World Athletics women 60m indoor tour champion; again setting a new PB over the 60m indoor distance.
The future is amazingly bright for this young lady and we expect to see her name as one of the favorites for a medal in the Tokyo Olympic Games!
