Franck Elemba
Biography
Although Franck Elemba was born and raised in the Congo, his cosmopolitan upbringing has helped him adapt to a range of training and performance conditions. Born in Brazzaville, Elemba ended up moving around with his parents, who worked as visa officials at the embassy. Spending time living in France, Benin, Gabon, Belgium, France, and Morocco, Elemba learned to adapt and focus regardless of the climate, food, and culture.
Meanwhile, he was getting stronger and excelling in field events. After growing up competing in judo, Elemba turned his strengths to shot put and discus throw in 2006. Several years of hard work lead him to his first podium finish in the 2014 African Championships, where he earned the bronze medal. The subsequent year, he won the African Games when it was staged in his home country, the Congo. He was edged out of the podium at the 2016 Olympic Games, where he finished 4th. But the motivation to achieve greatness continues to drive him forward every day.
